Recently, I had an opportunity to meet with one of the most active and effective leaders in education in Ontario. Linda Ward, a trustee with the St. Clair Catholic District School Board, has served Catholic education as a school board trustee for many years. She also is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Catholic School Trustees Association.
Linda is aware that for a significant number of children, the school experience is something of an unpleasant ordeal. She has long been a champion of those children who are not being well-served by the school system and as a result are underachieving. Perhaps understandably, she is also a great supporter of my Odyssey for Equality in Education.
In June, Linda will be attending the Canadian Catholic School Trustees Association symposium in Winnipeg. She has taken a number of my books and other materials to share with Catholic trustees from across Canada, and will be making people aware of my upcoming tour. Watch for the tour when it comes to your area.
It appears that the Odyssey for Equality is continuing to experience success in its objective of raising the awareness of educational and community leaders, as well as members of the general public, about the problem of boys underachieving in school – its causes, consequences and solutions.
