National Men’s Issues Charity CCMF Inaugurates Ottawa Branch Wednesday
Advocacy for public policies improving health and welfare of boys and men begins in the capital
OTTAWA, ONTARIO — (June 1, 2015) The Canadian Centre for Men and Families, which opened the first Men’s Centre in Toronto and recently hosted a bold “violence against men” billboard campaign, will inaugurate a new branch in the nation’s capital this Wednesday, June 3rd at 7:00PM in the auditorium of the Main Branch (Laurier & Metcalfe) of the Ottawa Public Library.
“CCMF’s capital branch will be an ideal platform to advocate for progressive public policies which improve the health and well-being of boys and men by focusing on issues of gender equality long trivialized,” said CCMF Executive Director Justin Trottier.
Through the leadership of President David Shackleton and Vice President Janice Fiamengo, the branch will push for equality in family court, offer evidence-based responses to campus “rape culture” debates and seek to build men’s health services throughout the city.
CCMF Ottawa’s centrepiece will feature a lecture series building on last year’s presentation by Professor Janice Fiamengo, which warned against the institutionalization of radical feminism. A law-breaking riot attempted unsuccessfully to stop that address at the University of Ottawa.
This Wednesday’s inaugural event will feature an eye-opening presentation by David Shackleton on his new book, “The Hand That Rocks the World,” which explores gender, power and victimhood.
