Today I experienced a true “Blast from the Past.” The Odyssey for Equality took me St. Catherine Catholic School in North York, Ontario. The school was built during the years I spent as an elementary school teacher in the neighbouring Annunciation Catholic School. As well, the principal is one of the students that I had the privilege of teaching at Neil McNeil High School many years ago. This man is an example of how boys can be achievers in school, and can go on to become excellent leaders and role models for the young boys with whom they come into contact.

B J McKeever, the principal, is very interested in the problem young boys are experiencing in the school system and is prepared to work with the parents of boys of pre-school age to provide them with the information and materials they might need to help their sons to become achievers in school. We will meet again in September.

The Odyssey for Equality continues to achieve its objective of raising public awareness of the problem of underachievement on the part of boys – its causes, consequences and solutions.
