by Dr. James Brown, Canadian Association for Equality Advisor
Today the Odyssey for Equality took me to Orillia, Ontario and a one-onone meeting with Garfield Dunlop, the MPP for Simcoe North. Garfield is very well-respected in this area and is highly active on behalf of his constituents. He is a member of the Progressive Conservative caucus.
Our meeting was quite productive and I am happy to say that he was very interested in the information I provided about the difficulties boys are experiencing in the education system. I had prepared an overview sheet for him with 15 major points, explanations of each, and their financial implications. He gave me his undivided attention, and it was clear from his questions that he had been reading my book, Rescuing Our Underachieving Sons.
He took extra copies of all of my materials to share with his party’s education critic, and I believe he will raise the issues that we covered in our meeting with his colleagues.
The Odyssey continues and appears to be achieving its objective of raising awareness about the equality issue, its causes, consequences and solutions.
