I came to CCMF from a desire to help men navigate the challenges of modern life, after hearing so many stories of men struggling to form healthy relationships, or experiencing the negative effects of relationship breakdown, as well as problems with mental health and work. My desire is to dispel myths about men and masculinity, to raise awareness of the importance of fathers to children and families, and to increase the quality and quantity of support that boys and men receive from every institution in society, including governments, schools, businesses and the media.
I live in the Fraser Valley area of BC with my wife and daughter. At CCMF I work as a volunteer coordinator and host of the Perspectives on Men podcast.
Carol Metz Murray
I am a people possibility strategist, intuitive narrative leadership coach, consultant, speaker and author. I bring leadership, organizational change and development, advocacy and outreach, people engagement, communication, advocacy and strategic building skills in business, government and social services to my work projects. Additionally I bring over 18 years of experience in nonprofit anti-violence work to the CCMF BC initiative to create interim transitional housing and programs for men, fathers and families fleeing domestic abuse. I live the principles, life tools, and systems learned on my life journey, offering authenticity, vulnerability and my God-given gifts of radical presence and listening to help build breakthroughs for those in need.

I have always been interested in questions of gender and in the 1990s I completed a Master’s degree in women’s studies. While I appreciated my studies of women I found myself becoming more and more sympathetic towards men. My main area of research was a critique of a pro-feminist treatment program for men who use violence against their female partners. I have been a member of CAFE/CCMF since 2016 and am currently a National Intake volunteer.

I am a proud French Black Father living in Vancouver, separated since 2021. That transition brought immense challenges, finding a place in a short amount of time and juggling multiple jobs to accommodate an unfair parenting schedule. Without CCMF, I would have been completely in the dark; they provided invaluable information I couldn’t find anywhere else.
Throughout this ordeal, I have faced racism, parental alienation, and false accusations. Navigating the legal system has been frustrating, as it often disregards a father’s vital role in their child’s life.
This experience has driven me to empower others and advocate for fair, shared parenting. Currently, I continue to fight in court to remain an active part of my child’s life. By volunteering at CCMF, I hope to contribute to meaningful change and support other fathers facing similar struggles.

Coming from an academic background, I have noticed education policies disadvantageous to boys and men from my university days on. I gradually discovered men’s rights and intactivism on social media after finishing my master’s degree. I have become passionate about seeing men empowered through finding resources and spaces to heal from their trauma.
I currently work as an event coordinator at CCMF BC.

I became passionate about men’s issues after experiencing a separation involving a child. Through this challenging time, I saw firsthand the lack of support available for men navigating the legal system—understanding when to seek legal counsel, what to expect in court, and how to prioritize self-care throughout the process. This experience fueled my commitment to advocating for resources and assistance for men facing similar struggles.
Currently, I am dedicated to fundraising and raising awareness for CCMF in the Okanagan region. I aim to expand support networks and ensure that men have access to the guidance and resources they need during difficult times.
Alex Carruthers
My journey began with personal struggles with mental health and addiction, which ignited my deep commitment to addressing men’s issues. Through a dedicated focus on personal development and achieving lasting sobriety, I transitioned from overcoming my own challenges to supporting others. Leading large sales teams of young men not only honed my leadership skills but also inspired my passion for personal coaching and career leadership. At CCMF, I leverage these experiences to empower men and families, guiding them through mental health challenges, addiction recovery, and the pursuit of professional success.

With a PhD in Mathematics and expertise in Statistics, I am a researcher and advocate focused on the overlooked issue of male victimization in domestic violence cases. My research revealed that men are equally likely to experience abuse as women, yet government resources remain largely unavailable to them. Recognizing this gap, I have worked to drive meaningful change.
My research includes examining the link between men’s high suicide rates and systemic biases in family courts and policing. I also founded Protests 4 Men, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising public awareness by contributing to research in relevant areas and forming peaceful protests. I also led a parliamentary petition advocating for legislative updates to ensure male victims receive equal protection under the law.
Through my work with CCMF, I continue to promote awareness, challenge systemic biases, and push for policy changes that support male victims of domestic violence.
