Canadian Centre for Men and Families confronts disregard for men’s health, boy’s crises
TORONTO, ON – (November 13, 2014) The Canadian Centre for Men and Families (CCMF) will host a week of events celebrating its opening as Toronto’s first “Men’s Centre.” A press conference will be held Thursday, November 20th at 10:30 AM at the CCMF at 152 Carlton St.
“Toronto finally has a home for all men’s health and well-being needs at a facility that is without precedent” said Justin Trottier, CCMF Director. “Whether it’s increasing rates of suicide or decreasing rates of university enrolment, we’ve long seen boys and men in crises.”
The Centre will respond to male victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence, provide mentorship for at-risk boys, and grant legal assistance to fathers battling a sometimes unjust family law system.
“Our ultimate aim is to catalyze a fundamental change in society’s attitude toward boys and men,” said Dr. James Brown, retired principal and boys’ education authority.
