Program Description:

Our Legal Information Clinic is divided into two services: Legal Information Workshops where clients can come in to learn about various legal topics, and Individual Legal Information Sessions where clients can meet with legal students and a lawyer to gather information specifically related to their personal situation.

Legal Information Workshops:

The Legal Information Clinic will offer bi-weekly information workshops where individuals can come to receive basic information related to the specific workshop topic. These workshops are available to people who register in advance, so that we are able to accommodate all those needing the service. Workshop topics will be available on our website and will be emailed to clients in advance. Topics will be chosen based on what we see the biggest demand for. To request a certain topic please contact the Centre. These services are not providing legal representation or legal advice, but only providing helpful information to guide clients who are unsure of their legal options.

Individual Legal Information Sessions:

Our one-on-one sessions are a service for clients to meet with a legal student and one of our volunteer lawyers to receive information related to their individual situation. This service does not provide legal representation or legal advice, just information to guide clients in the right direction.

How to register:

These are not drop-in programs. In order to receive these services, individuals must register in advance by emailing ottawa@menandfamilies.org or calling 613-518-1065. We may require clients to meet with an intake counselor before they will be registered for the legal clinic program.
